US Diagnostic Product Expert / Product Manager (SE S00207)

Project Summary

We’re conducting a high-impact consulting project focused on the commercialization readiness of an innovative at-home cancer screening test. Our goal is to bring in a seasoned Product Expert with deep knowledge of diagnostic products — especially at-home or self-administered tests — to help us optimize the entire patient experience and ensure strong product-market alignment.

This is a short-term, part-time consulting opportunity (remote) with flexible hours, perfect for someone who’s already built diagnostic products and wants to make a meaningful contribution without long-term commitments.

Responsibilities

You will work closely with our internal team to bring practical, field-tested insights across four key areas:

💡 End-to-End Patient Experience Optimization

• Analyze the entire journey of a potential user — from test awareness and ordering, to kit delivery, sample collection, result delivery, and follow-up.
• Identify pain points and usability risks, especially those unique to at-home medical testing.
• Propose clear, actionable changes that make the experience intuitive, accessible, and reassuring.

📦 Kit & Interface Design Support

• Provide input on the user-facing design of the physical kit (packaging, breath collection, instructions).
• Advise on patient app features and flows — including onboarding, sample tracking, result access, and notifications.
• Use real-world feedback from usability studies to guide refinements.

🗣️ Communication & Patient Messaging

• Help us build effective messaging that explains what the test can (and cannot) do in simple, accurate terms.
• Assist in crafting clear, user-centered communications around results, next steps, and emotional readiness.
• Ensure that patient education aligns with regulatory context and user needs.

📊 Market Fit Strategy

• Collaborate on refining our value proposition for target patient groups.
• Share insights on what drives engagement and trust in at-home testing — and what undermines it.
• Help the team evaluate competitive positioning versus traditional and emerging cancer screening methods.

Requirements

We're looking for someone who brings a rare mix of product sense, diagnostics knowledge, and human-centered design thinking. Ideally, you have:

✔️ 5+ years of hands-on experience in product development, management, or user experience within the diagnostics or medical devices industry.

✔️ Direct experience with at-home or self-administered diagnostic tests — preferably including physical kit and digital companion design.

✔️ Strong background in designing or evaluating patient-facing materials, including instructions, packaging, labeling, or app content.

✔️ Experience working in or closely with the cancer diagnostics/screening space is a major plus.

✔️ Proven ability to analyze, map, and optimize complex user journeys — especially in healthcare contexts.

✔️ Working knowledge of the U.S. regulatory environment for diagnostics, including CLIA labs, LDTs, and general FDA principles.

✔️ Excellent communication skills and the ability to deliver structured, actionable recommendations.

✔️ Previous consulting experience is a bonus, but not required.
