Project summary

We are seeking EU-based Musculoskeletal (MSK) Radiologists to participate in an innovative Chest CT musculoskeletal annotation project focused on vertebral body segmentation, vertebral labeling, morphometric measurements, bone density assessment, and pathology-aware review.

This project is designed to create a high-quality, clinically reliable annotated dataset that will support the development, validation, and benchmarking of advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions for vertebral body segmentation and analysis. Your expertise in chest CT interpretation will directly contribute to shaping the future of AI-powered medical imaging.

Project details

Project Scope:

  • Annotate and review a dataset of 170 chest CT musculoskeletal studies.
  • The dataset will be divided into two cohorts for primary annotation.
  • Following completion of the first cohort, radiologists will switch cohorts to perform pathology labeling on the second cohort.
  • Cases with discrepant pathology labels will undergo a separate adjudication process.

Project Timeline & Commitment:

  • Onboarding & Training: June 22–29, including clinical and platform training, followed by a calibration phase of 3–5 test cases.
  • Phase 1: June 30–July 11
  • Phase 2: July 11–23
  • Approximately 36 hours total throughout the project (~18 hours per phase).
  • Approximately 60 minutes per case for primary annotation.
  • Approximately 15 minutes per case for pathology review.

Work Environment:

  • Fully remote and asynchronous.
  • Work completed using the RedBrick AI annotation platform.

Workflow:

  • During each phase, annotators will complete approximately 28 studies, including both full annotations and pathology-only reviews.
  • Following Phase 1, annotators will switch cohorts and perform pathology review on the second cohort to support quality and consistency across the dataset.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and label visible vertebrae from T1–T12 and L1–L5 where visible within the field of view.
  • Perform or validate vertebral morphometric measurements, including anterior, middle, and posterior vertebral body height.
  • Measure vertebral bone density using Hounsfield Unit (HU) values.
  • Apply pathology labels where relevant, including vertebra-level pathology identification.
  • Independently review assigned studies without access to another radiologist’s results.
  • Provide pathology labeling on the second cohort following the cohort switch phase.
  • Complete assigned cases within the agreed project timeline.
  • Maintain consistency across vertebral segmentation, labeling, measurements, HU assessment, and pathology labeling.
  • Follow project protocols carefully and escalate questions when guidance is unclear.
  • Work independently and avoid cross-review contamination unless explicitly instructed by the workflow.
  • Support quality assurance activities by completing corrections or clarifications when requested.

Requirements

  • Eastern EU-based MSK Radiologist
  • Minimum 4+ years of radiology experience
  • Minimum 2+ years of musculoskeletal radiology experience
  • Strong experience interpreting CT studies involving the spine and musculoskeletal system
  • Strong knowledge of vertebral anatomy, spinal pathology, and vertebral level identification
  • Experience performing vertebral measurements and bone density assessment preferred
