US Board-Certified Thoracic or Emergency Radiologist with 5+ Years of Experience – Rib Fracture CT Annotation Project (SHS00368)
Project summary
This project builds a high-quality, clinically reliable reference-standard dataset from chest CT studies to support the validation and regulatory evaluation of an AI algorithm for rib fracture detection. This work is sponsored by a healthcare technology company developing this FDA-regulated AI algorithm. We're recruiting 2-3 Annotators (5+ years post-residency). Each study is independently read by two Annotators, with an Adjudicator resolving any disagreements between them.
The work is asynchronous and fully remote, performed entirely within the RedBrick AI annotation platform. All chest CT studies are de-identified prior to annotation. It's structured in three phases: onboarding (clinical protocol review plus tooling training), a short test-case phase to confirm task alignment before production begins, and a production phase covering the full case volume.
Project details
- Timeline: Onboarding/training expected ~July 22, 2026 → test-case phase (~3 studies, 2-3 days) → production (goal: complete as much as possible by end of September 2026, exact batch targets mutually agreed). Compensation guarantee applies regardless of test-case outcomes.
- Workload: ~250-350 studies per Annotator, ~20 min/study avg.
- Total Time Commitment: ~83-116 hours over project duration.
- Mode: Asynchronous, fully remote, entirely within RedBrick AI.
Responsibilities
- Assess each assigned chest CT study for acute, subacute, or chronic non-union rib fractures (chronic healed fractures excluded from scope)
- Complete study-level labels: rib fracture status, chronic healed fractures, flail chest, segmental fractures, image quality, contrast phase, artifacts, truncation, and relevant thoracic findings
- Place one best-visible 2D bounding box per distinct rib fracture, with required fracture-level attributes
- Place additional visibility bounding boxes on other slices where the fracture remains visible (excluding best-visible slice)
- Characterize each best-visible fracture by side, rib number, confidence, fracture type, displacement/completeness, age, anatomical location, and likely cause
- Draw bounding boxes to capture the full visible fracture abnormality, displaced fragments, and a small rim of surrounding normal anatomy
- Review assigned studies independently, without access to the other radiologist's annotations
- Escalate protocol questions, technical issues, or uncertain edge cases through the designated project channel
- Complete assigned cases within agreed timeline and batch targets
- Maintain consistency across labels, localization, attributes, and findings
- Apply the annotation protocol precisely, escalate unclear guidance rather than guessing
- Work independently, avoid cross-review contamination unless specifically instructed
- Support QA as needed — corrections, clarifications, or re-annotations on request
Requirements
- US-based
- Currently practicing clinically (active practice required)
- ABR-certified (Diagnostic Radiology) + Fellowship in Thoracic/Cardiothoracic Radiology OR Emergency Radiology
- 5+ years of post-residency radiology experience
- Strong experience interpreting chest CT, trauma imaging, and rib fractures specifically
- Strong working knowledge of rib anatomy, fracture morphology, displacement/healing patterns, and common mimics
- Comfortable working independently in a protocol-driven annotation environment
