Project summary

We are recruiting Latin American Radiologists with extensive musculoskeletal (MSK) imaging expertise to participate in an innovative chest CT annotation project focused on high-quality manual vertebral body segmentation. The annotations generated through this initiative will play a key role in the development, validation, and benchmarking of an AI-powered algorithm designed to advance musculoskeletal imaging.

The goal of this project is to create a high-quality annotated dataset of chest CT studies that will serve as a robust reference standard for advanced AI and machine learning systems focused on vertebral body segmentation and analysis.

Project details

Workload: Approximately 170 chest CT MSK studies distributed across the team. Each study will be completed by a single annotator, with case assignments based on clinician availability, performance, and project pace.

Estimated Time per Case: Approximately 2–2.5 hours per study. Actual completion time may vary depending on vertebral coverage, image quality, and overall case complexity.

Estimated Total Time Commitment: Approximately 56–70 hours per clinician. Final case allocation may vary according to quality metrics, clinician availability, and overall project throughput requirements.

Timeline

  • Onboarding and training: Scheduled following client approval.
  • Test case phase: Completion of 1–2 studies within 1–2 days prior to production approval.
  • Production phase: Approximately one month, within the active project timeline.

Mode: Fully remote and asynchronous, with all annotations completed using the RedBrick AI annotation platform.

Workflow

  • Onboarding with clinical and platform training.
  • Test case phase to confirm annotation quality and production readiness.
  • Production phase consisting of approximately 28 studies per clinician, subject to final case allocation and project needs.

Task Description

Participants will review chest CT MSK studies and perform the following activities:

  • Identify each visible vertebral body within the study field of view, including T1–T13 and L1–L5, where present.
  • Create a 3D segmentation mask for every visible vertebral body.
  • Assign the correct anatomical vertebral level to each segmentation object.

Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned studies within the agreed project timeline while maintaining reliable weekly availability.
  • Produce accurate, complete, and anatomically consistent vertebral body segmentations, along with correct vertebral level assignments.
  • Follow the annotation protocol precisely and seek clarification whenever guidance is needed.
  • Work independently in accordance with the project workflow and avoid cross-review contamination unless specifically instructed.
  • Support quality assurance activities by completing requested corrections, retraining, or clarification tasks when necessary.

Requirements

  • Latin American-based Radiologist.
  • Minimum 4+ years of radiology experience.
  • Minimum 2+ years of MSK radiology experience.
  • Strong experience interpreting chest CT studies.
  • Strong knowledge of thoracic spine anatomy and vertebral level identification.
  • Comfortable using annotation platforms, including 3D image viewing, segmentation, and measurement tools.
  • Ability to work independently in a protocol-driven annotation environment.
